Welcome to Great Harwood Christian Fellowship.
We are a Reformed Baptist church committed to the faithful preaching of God’s Word and to the truths set out in the 1689 Second London Baptist Confession of Faith. At the heart of our life together is a desire to glorify God, to worship Him reverently, and to make known the saving gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ with clarity, love, passion, and conviction.
For just over 30 years, God has been pleased to sustain and build His church here in Great Harwood. Over those years, the Lord has graciously added to the fellowship, and the church has grown into a congregation that seeks to preach the whole counsel of God boldly and faithfully. We believe that the Bible is the inspired, sufficient, and authoritative Word of God, and that it must be central in all that we do as a church.
We are deeply persuaded that Jesus Christ is the only hope for this world. In an age of confusion, uncertainty, and spiritual darkness, we long to see men, women, and children come to true repentance and faith in Him.
Our earnest prayer is that many in our local community would hear the gospel, be saved by God’s grace, and come to know the mercy, peace, and eternal life that are found in Christ alone.
As a church, we also believe that every true believer is sealed with the Holy Spirit, as Scripture affirms:
“In Him, you also, after listening to the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also believed, you were sealed in Him with the Holy Spirit of promise, who is given as a pledge of our inheritance…” (Ephesians 1:13–14, LSB).
We believe too that the very Spirit who raised our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead now dwells in all who belong to Him:
“But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” (Romans 8:11, LSB). Therefore, we seek to walk, pray, serve, and preach the gospel in the power of the Holy Spirit, depending not on the strength of man but on the power and grace of God.
As a church, we are committed to reverent worship, biblical truth, and gospel witness. We desire not only to stand firmly upon sound doctrine, but also to live out that truth in humble service, Christian fellowship, and love for one another. Whether through the preaching of the Word, discipleship, children’s work, evangelism, or fellowship around a cup of coffee or tea, our desire is to honour the Lord and serve the people of Great Harwood and beyond.
